Madeleine Landry and Bonni Taylor are the endlessly talented team at Posey Floral and Event Design. Not surprisingly, they hit this one out of the park!  The gifted Gia Pham of Red Fly Photography was there to perfectly capture the gorgeous coral peonies, to-die-for table settings and the breathtaking bride. It was a thrilling experience to work with such talent on this beautiful wedding.

Introducing… Mr. and Mrs. Madeleine and Kyle Landry!

We chose Hunt as the obvious place to get married because it meant so much to both our families, to our relationship and it’s just such a beautiful and unique venue.  It’s was also special because we got married in almost the exact same place Kyle’s parents got married 30 years ago.

Kyle and I “officially” met in Hunt a few years ago.  Our families have known each other for generations (his grandparents and my grandmother went to school together from kindergarten through college, and so our moms grew up together).  Both of our families have houses on the river in Hunt and we’ve seen each other in passing since we were in diapers.  When we actually met, Kyle was canoeing up the river with some of his buddies and I was hanging out by the river with some of my friends.  We started chatting and the rest is history!

There are so many great memories from the wedding!  I think for both Kyle and I it was when we saw each other for the first time that day as I was walking down the aisle.  I don’t remember anything else except Kyle during that walk… it was just wonderful and makes me smile!

If I had to give our wedding a theme it would be laid-back hill country charm with a huge emphasis on family… is that even a theme??  Our families played a huge role in the wedding – from the venue (it being Kyle’s grandparent’s property), to my dress (I wore my grandmother’s wedding dress), to just really wanting to include our families and thank them for supporting us so much over the past few years and into the future.  We also wanted all of our friends and out of town relatives to love with Hunt just as much as we do, so making the weekend and wedding easy and laid back was very important.  We wanted everyone to feel at home and very comfortable.

Working with 36th Street was an easy choice!  They’re obviously the best – I might be biased – but they also made everything so easy and stress free the weeks leading up to the wedding and the day of the wedding!  Ren was fabulous and made everything so easy for me, Kyle and all our family!

It was such a blessing to be a part of this special day!  Thanks to all the amazing vendors: Posey Floral and Event Design, Red Fly Photography, Sugar Mamas Bake Shop, Marquee Rents, Texas Unlimited Band,  Cartwheels Catering and Lucy Skyrocket.

{How did you meet?}

We initially met when Katie was living in DC but was visiting Austin for her birthday party.  A mutual friend who was invited to the party also invited Taylor, and they met when…well, Taylor garnered up enough courage to go talk to Katie.

{The Engagement}

We designed our own beautiful engagement ring, so the proposal was anticipated.  Katie seemed as surprised as she could be, given the circumstances.  We then went over to her mom’s house and had a nice dinner out overlooking the hill country with champagne.

{Feel of the Wedding}

Rustic and relaxed.  We are having it in a non-traditional venue at a nature park.

We want people to enjoy themselves and the time with others during this special time in our life.

Celebrating with our friends and family in a beautiful, peaceful place!

{Honeymoon Plans}

We are going to San Francisco and plan to explore north and south of town!

{Why Austin}

Growing up in Texas, I had always envisioned a Texas Hill Country wedding. Even though Carl and I hadn’t spent a lot of time in Austin before planning our wedding, after the first wedding venue scouting visit we knew it was the place. Who doesn’t love margaritas and live music?

{The Engagement}

Last May Carl was graduating from his MBA program so I put together a little dinner with our friends and family at our favorite restaurant around the corner from our house to celebrate. Surprisingly, after being together for 3+ years and knowing each other for 9 years, our parents had never met. It was always so hard to get them to San Francisco at the same time, so we figured graduation weekend was a perfect excuse to get everyone to the same place at the same time.

That Saturday afternoon I attended the actual graduation ceremony with Carl’s family and then we headed to Don Pistos, our favorite restaurant, to meet the rest of our group. After about an hour of mingling and chatting with our friends, we decided we should probably sit down and eat dinner. As the group was taking their seats, Carl stood up and began what I thought was a “thank you for coming” speech. I wasn’t paying much attention as I began ravaging the chips and salsa, until I realized I had heard my name about 10 times in 2 minutes. As I turned around, it took me about 15 seconds to realize what was happening. There in front of our closest family and friends Carl asked me to marry him. I was shocked – so shocked I forgot to say anything. Carl’s brother had to mutter a “soooo…..” to which I quickly remembered to say YES! I don’t remember a lot of what was said in that moment, but I remember being stunned at how beautiful the ring was. We had never really talked about rings. You don’t expect one to do a lot of diamond shopping when they are an unemployed student. I had one of the best nights of my life being able to
share that moment with my parents (rare since I get to see them about 10 days out of a year), Carl’s family, and our friends. The celebration continued with a reservation Carl had made for the whole group at the Starlight Room, a bar atop of one of SF’s hotels that overlooks the city.

Looking back, there are so many things that I laugh about. The Wednesday before graduation weekend, Carl suggested we take a walk with our dog before his graduation ceremony since she would be left inside for the rest of the day. I LOVE walks, but Carl does not. The fact that he was suggesting one days in advance should have been weird to me. But, being the over planner that I am, I instead could only think – there will be no time for a walk since we will have both our parents to play with! While he was trying to get me alone to pop the question, I could not be any happier with the way things went. We eat at Don Pistos about once a week and it has been so fun to share our wedding planning with all the people there who helped make the night such a success!

{Feel of the wedding}

During our rental appointment with Beth, I made the mistake of saying that the overall feel of our wedding
is “Neutral and Natural.” Now I have heard that phrase on repeat from my mom and sisters and it is beginning to lose its ring! Really, the thing that matters most to us about the wedding is that everyone comes away from the weekend being glad they made the trek to Austin to celebrate with us.

{What we are looking forward to come wedding day}

Carl is from Detroit, I am from Dallas, and we have spent our entire “grown up” lives in San Francisco… so we have never had all of our friends and family in the same place before. I can’t wait to spend an entire weekend with the people we love most.

{Plans for after the wedding}

Unfortunately, due to October being a busy time with my job, we will not be able to immediately go on our
honeymoon. We plan to come back to San Francisco the Sunday after the wedding and take about 3 days to
recuperate in the sun in nearby Napa. Then in November we are taking a 10 day trip to Tahiti and Bora Bora to enjoy staying in an over-water bungalow and getting plenty of rest and relaxation.

{Photographer Love}

We met Jason and Anna, a husband and wife team, as they were shooting our friends’ wedding in Napa.  Even though we live in California, are getting married in Texas, and they live in Arizona – we knew we just had to work with them.  And I am so glad we did.  When we started emailing about what to do with our engagement shoot, I was really torn between capturing images in the city of San Francisco (since that is where we have lived and fallen in love but are all packed and ready for a move to the ‘burbs) and capturing pictures with a soft and natural feeling.  I figured we would have an hour or two together and that it wouldn’t be possible to shoot such different locations.  But that is where Jason and Anna’s awesomeness came through.  We spent the whole day together, walking through our neighborhood, having brunch at our favorite spot Don Pistos (where we got engaged!), and walking Motley to the park.  Then we all hopped in the car and headed north of the Golden Gate bridge for some amazing photos in the Marin Headlands.  We capped off the day over dinner with those great friends that introduced all of us and accidentally stayed up chatting till 2 in the morning!  Makes it all that much better that we get to spend so much time with our new friends on our wedding day!

{36th Street Love}

After calling around to a few coordinators I had found through some pretty serious Stylemepretty.com stalking, I was really impressed with the flexibility and individualized packages 36th Street Events allowed. However, when I called a former client as a reference (one whose wedding I had fallen in love with on the 36th Street Events blog) and she had nothing but amazing things to say about Beth and the team, that’s when I knew we were a go!
