Meet Laura Bryan {formally Thompson}. Now that Laura and Preston are married, I can give you a glimpse of the gorgeous bride by sharing her bridal portraits. They were taken by the talented Sherry Hammond at Lustre Pearl. I can not wait to show you their wedding pictures. They are so completely head over heels for each other. It was adorable. Enjoy these little teasers and watch out for images from their wedding!

{Real Wedding} Tracy+Brian August 30th, 2010
July in Texas is 100% different than July in Seattle, which is why 36th Street was so thrilled to leave the sweltering Texas summertime and get to enjoy some of Seattle’s mild July weather. Add an amazing wedding on top of that and you have one very happy Texan!
Tracy and Brian were married at the lovely Broadmoor Golf Club on a beautiful Saturday – sunny, breezy, rainbows in the background of the ceremony, the greenest grass I’ve ever seen, not to mention two of the happiest and most in love people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing! Take a look at some of Tracy and Brian’s photos from the talented Jenny GG Photography:
LOVE the colorful and fun backdrop that Pike Place Market provided for their pre-ceremony photos!
The infamous gum wall says “No one’s gonna love you more than I do”
So in love with the amazing landscape Jenny had to work with in their group photos!
Tracy and Brian’s fabulous parents!
Getting ready for the ceremony…
Check out these details! The bar menu (on which Spike the cat makes his recommendations), the amazing love bird cake, the personalized table names… love love love!
Kickin’ off the party in style…
Some of the photo booth props made their way around the dance floor too…
Thanks Tracy and Brian for letting me be a part of your big day! Now, back to the never ending Texas summer…
XOXO

{Soon To Be} Mr. and Mrs. McKee August 13th, 2010
The first weekend in September, Rachel and Cullen will become man and wife, and 36th Street is thrilled to be a part of their special day. I first met Rachel over coffee, and I loved how personal she wanted both her wedding and reception to be. The words she wanted to describe her wedding were intimate, handmade, and over all hollywood glamour. 36th Street can not wait to see Rachel’s inspiration become a reality. The wedding will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, with their reception at the Chateau Bellevue. Here is a little more about the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Mckee and how it all started. Enjoy and check back for details from their wedding!
{How did you meet}
We met through our mutual friend, Matalee. She knew that we would be perfect together, and did all she
could to make it happen! We went out on one date, and four years later, we are still very much in love.
{How did he propose}
Cullen proposed to me on a trip with his parents to San Francisco. Our last morning in town, we woke up
really early and hiked up the side of a sandy hill overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. There was a slight fog,
and the rays of the rising sun were peaking over the horizon. We sat together, taking in this amazing view,
and as we got up to leave, Cullen got down on one knee and proposed. I could not believe it was actually
happening, and couldn’t believe how perfect the set-up was! I was in a complete state of shock and bliss!
{What are your plans after the wedding}
We will be touring Costa Rica for our honeymoon!
{What is your favorite thing to do in Austin}
We love the Austin area for its many amazing state parks and outdoors activities. We go swimming, hiking,
and camping as much as possible (with our dog, Frankie, of course!).
{What are you most excited about for the wedding}
We are most excited about celebrating our vows with all of the most important people in our lives there to
witness them. We can’t wait to party the night away with our friends and family, and we can’t wait to start
our new lives as husband and wife together!

Happy Firday! xoXo Beth

Real Wedding {Mr. and Mrs. Kelley} August 6th, 2010
36th Street loved working with this adorable couple, Stephanie and Jake, who now live in New York City. Last month I showcased some of their engagement pictures, and now I get to share their gorgeous wedding pictures. Their wedding day started off with a beautiful ceremony at the University United Methodist Church. The night continued in downtown Austin at the stunning Intercontinental Stephen F Austin. Stephanie and Jake danced the night way with friends and family, and the word that would best describe them is fun! Enjoy their images taken by the girls at Sweet Caroline Photography.
Special thanks to all the fabulous vendors that helped 36th Street make this night so perfect for Stephanie and Jake.

Wedding Trends We Love {Embellished Sashes} August 4th, 2010
Stop by any bridal boutique and you will notice that embellished belts and sashes are a big trend right now. They can take your dress from plain jane to something spectacular but tend to come with a hefty price tag. Depending on your wedding dress budget, adding a sash could really set you over that budget.
Kirsten Kuehn Designs has a great selection of handmade sashes along with great jewelry and headbands too. Check out some of our favorite designs:

From “I Do” to “Thank You” August 2nd, 2010
So your wedding is over and you think all the work is done. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you’d better think again. All those amazing people that came to your wedding more than likely also sent or brought a present with them, and they deserve many thanks for doing so! In the past, I’ve seen that many brides are at a loss when it comes to thank you note etiquette, so here are some helpful hints:
- Be sure and think about ordering your thank you note cards before the wedding if possible. Sometimes personalized cards can take weeks to get to you, and if you wait to think about ordering cards until a month after the wedding you are then on a time crunch.
- While the bride should definitely write all the thank yous for bridal shower gifts, don’t let your groom talk you into thinking that the bride has to write all the thank you notes for the wedding gifts too! Share the duties somehow. Come up with a system and stick to it (he could write all the notes to his family and friends and you could write to yours; or he could write to your family and you could write to his). No matter how you break it up, dividing and conquering (and making a date night out of it!) is definitely the way to go.
- Not sure how to get started or what to say to guests who aren’t your bff (i.e. your great aunt’s next door neighbor who sent that random vase)? Try incorporating these elements: Thank the person for coming to your wedding and celebrating with you (or tell them how much you missed seeing them at the wedding); then thank them for the gift (use adjectives – but don’t get too cheesy or mushy – and remember to mention the gift by name); then refer to how you’ll use the gift (i.e. if you got a set of wine glasses you could say how much you’ve enjoyed them so far, or if you received a check you could say that you’re saving up to buy a home together and that it will be a great contribution to your savings).
- When signing the card, typically you should sign only your name, but in some cases (i.e. someone who might know your spouse better than you) it is okay to sign both of your names.
- Response time – this is always the area with the most question, but according to Emily Post all wedding gift thank you notes must be sent within three months of receipt of the gift (not within three months of your wedding date). Shower gift thank you notes should be written within 2-3 weeks of the shower (or before your next shower or the wedding).
- Be sure and keep track of when you receive gifts and who they are coming from so that you can always double check with gift receipts if necessary.
- Although I haven’t ever seen this done, NEVER, ever, ever, ever buy pre-printed or fill in the blank cards!
- Try to set small goals if you have a long list to conquer. In lieu of saying “I’m going to write all 100 thank you notes by tomorrow”, instead say “Every day for the next 2 weeks I’m going to write 7 notes”. It’s much less daunting that way.
- And last but not least, don’t ever use lateness as an excuse not to write a thank you note. If you went on a month long honeymoon and then immediately moved and started a new job, your recipients will understand getting a note 5 months later – they might notice if you never send one though.
Happy writing!
XOXO
