{36th Street Introduces} Mr. and Mrs. Anderson

Meet Erica and Chris – an absolutely amazing couple that got married at the end of March and the always lovely Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center.  I had the pleasure of planning Erica and Chris’ wedding with them for over 14 months – and enjoyed every minute of it! So without further ado, here is some insight into the big day straight from the newlyweds themselves…

{How we met}

Chris and I met in graduate school, first at a recruitment weekend in the spring and then again that fall.  We were both living in Washington, DC at the time, but it took us coming to College Station, Texas to actually meet.  We randomly bumped into each other in DC a time or two that summer and then started dating in the fall shortly after school started.

{How we got engaged}

Chris proposed by waking me up one morning with coffee and a small book he made with a story about us.  It was perfect – and very us. I, of course, cried and then interrupted him and said, “YES!” before he even finished asking!

{Why we decided to get married in Austin}

Austin is our home away from home in Texas. It was the first city in Texas we really explored together and we’ve been going there every few weekends for several years now.  Most of our guests were from out of town and we figured it would be a fun destination for everyone.

{Favorite memories from our big day}

Chris:  Watching Erica and her dad walk down the aisle toward me.  I was so happy to be getting married to the most important person in the world to me!

Erica: Sitting at our sweetheart table talking with Chris and looking out at how gorgeous the reception was and all our friends and family.  It was so amazing to see everyone from all these different parts of our lives in one place. We just looked around for a moment and took it all in.

{If we had to give our wedding a theme name it would be…}

Simple and classic garden dinner party. We really wanted a wedding with the intimate feel of a dinner party that was elegant without feeling remotely stuffy.

{Our honeymoon plans}

We’re both in the middle of teaching and finishing up our dissertations right now, so we’re waiting to take a nice long honeymoon in a couple of months when we both have a little more time.  But we’re escaping to a nice resort in the Hill Country for a mini honeymoon when the semester is over in May.

{Our favorite thing to do together in Austin}

We can’t pick just one! Trying new restaurants, going to Whole Foods (we love cooking together), and walking around South Congress.

{Why we chose to work with 36th Street Events}

We saw several 36th Street weddings online that we loved before we contacted 36th Street, and our first meeting with Bethany just reinforced our decision even more. She immediately put us at ease and we were confidant that she would not only help us create a beautiful wedding, but would be fun to work with throughout the process.

Congratulations Erica and Chris! I couldn’t be happier for you both, and can’t wait to see what this new chapter in your life holds for you!

Stay tuned next week for more amazing photos from their wedding from the talented Shannon Cunningham Photography.
