{Soon to Be} Mr. and Mrs. Ahn

36th Street has the pleasure of working with couples from all over the US.  Sly and Veronika currently live in San Francisco, and are traveling back to Texas for their October wedding.  Through numerous emails and phone calls, I have become quite fond of this couple.  Every time we chat, they have such a fun and laid back energy about them.  We are looking forward to being a part of what I know will be a beautiful wedding night full of laughter and love.  Keep reading to get to know a little more about Sly and Veronika.

{How we met}

We’ve been together almost 4 years, and knew of each other even longer than that through mutual friends. Even though we knew of each other, and had met a few times, our paths never really crossed until several years ago, when Sly resigned his commission as a Naval Officer. We had connected several times at some of our mutual friends’ weddings and continued contacting each other online until Sly made the decision to move out to San Francisco to be with me.

{How Sly proposed}

We were staying in a cabin at Big Basin near Santa Cruz over Valentine’s Day. After a long 11 mile hike, we went back to the cabin and built a huge fire in our pot-bellied stove. As I started to drift off to sleep, Sly jumped up and said he had something for me. After handing me a shot of Talisker (not sure if that was for him or for me), he started telling me how much I meant to him. I didn’t think much because it was Valentine’s day. Then he got down on one knee and proposed with the same ring that my Dad proposed to my Mom with. My initial response was: “What? What are you doing?” Long story short, I said yes!

{What are your plans for after the wedding}

Lots of changes! We are planning on spending three weeks in New Zealand for our honeymoon. We rented a campervan for the majority of the time, and we’re looking forward to having no plans but driving around, diving with dolphins, and eating tons of great food.

We hope to be able to have the time to do an extended road trip across the US to hit up all of the National and State Parks that we haven’t been to together.

{If you had to give your wedding a Theme name, what would it be and why?}

Rustic Vintage with a Texas Twist. We are both really outdoorsy, so we knew that we’d have our wedding outdoors. Since we both have roots in Texas, we knew it would take place in Texas. When we stumbled across Three Points Ranch, we knew we had found the right place — not only was it outdoors in the Texas Hill Country, but it featured Airstream trailers! It’s been a dream of ours to own/restore an Airstream and travel the country in it.

{What is your favorite thing to do together}

Cooking and camping probably top our list. We love to eat, travel, and be outdoors, but we also love just being lazy at home with our two little kitties, Pandora and Sabine.

{What are you most excited about for the wedding}

We really wanted our wedding to feel like a big party, so we are really looking forward to partying with our friends and family – Texas BBQ, a live bluesgrass band, roasting marshmallows, and having tons of fun!

36th Street can’t wait to see this wedding come together and see more amazing pictures by Katherine O’Brien Photography!  Check back to see more.  Happy Friday!!  Beth
